The Faith of a Child Changes Global Homelessness

A young boy with piercing brown eyes introduces himself on the website and an organization he found called Share Hope USA. His story is quite amazing.

“My name is Symond and I am 12-years-old. I think that we all can make a difference. That is why I started this organization to help provide for the homeless and sick children. Find out how you can contribute to the future of someone in need through donations of food, clothes, services and time.”

Symond Boschetto used his faith as a child to create a global movement to end homelessness. The passion started at the age of eight when he crossed a homeless man in Los Angeles.

“I had like, $5 in my pocket, and I wanted to give it to him, but we had already passed him, and so I told my dad, ‘I want to help them,’” he says in an interview with People magazine. “And he was like, ‘Well, I can turn around and we can go give him the $5.’ I said, ‘You don’t understand, I want to help them all.’”

The National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty reported an estimated 2.3 and 3.5 million people have encountered homelessness. L.A.’s homeless population grew by 12 percent since 2018.

Share Hope USA already has helped and encouraged over 9,000 people to combat the issue impacting so many people in America and beyond. “I really want to just be almost all over the world. I want to be everywhere,” adds Boschetto.

The youth also started an annual Play-Doh Drive benefiting the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles where they’ve collected over 15,000 containers of Play-Doh in 2018.

We are all called to serve and have the faith of a child, like Boschetto. In Mathew 18 Jesus called a little child to Him and placed the child among them. “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”

One child is impacting thousands of people using his passion, faith and humility in making a difference. He did more than having just good intentions. He took action!

“Let all have the faith of a child to transform the world. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” Mark 10:15
