A person I’ve known for over a decade now has considered me a non-Christian because political differences and just growing apart from each other.
This time, I let her go and moved on. There’s no animosity. God wanted me to stay out of the weeds of contempt then and today.
She was civil and we parted ways. I learned an extraordinary lesson. This tit for tat was going on for a few years, and it’s disheartening. It’s tiring working to convince people you’re not a bad person for your beliefs. It’s exhausting to explain you’re compassionate towards others, a border wall or not. Is God inviting you to move forward? Is it time to let go of past mistakes, people, fear, and the frustrations obstructing the flow of God in your life?
God uses circumstances and people to build what He has for you. Now it’s time to move towards Him.
Ephesians 4:31-32 “Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
Letting go doesn’t suggest you’re right or wrong. It’s getting rid of the weeds preventing flow in your life. The Bible talks about forgetting the former things for a reason! If we’re continually in the former, we won’t see the new thing God is doing.
I realized it’s hard where the same news feeds, same dribble, same hateful speeches are used by anyone skulking behind a Smartphone or computer. Situations like this can leave anyone depressed or going back to people who provoke more retaliation. The more exposure to social media, the angrier I became at my former pal and others, too.
I stopped mainstream social media from polluting me by just avoiding it. After some practice, letting go became more manageable and can be for you as well.
We can do everything through Christ, but nothing without Him. Let Him give you the capability to let go of what’s keeping you in bondage. It could be an old friend that needs to be released to God or overcoming past hurts.
Here are two great Scriptures today to encourage you to let go. Philippians 3:14: “I run straight toward the goal to win the prize that God’s heavenly call offers in Christ Jesus.”
And Proverbs 4:18: “The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day.”
And you know what? I’m learning that letting go is okay.
